About Me

I'm James — a London-based training consultant, academic, and former Detective with a professional focus on investigative practice, interviewing, disclosure, and organisational decision-making.

My background includes several years of frontline investigation, during which I honed my skills in high-stakes investigative environments where detail, fairness, and resilience were critical. That experience now forms the foundation of my consultancy and training work.

I am an experienced trainer, educator and assessor, having taught to a range of public and private sector organisations both in the UK and overseas on behalf of agencies such as the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). I was fortunate to receive some of the highest levels of training in interviewing skills, both in the UK and in the US.

Today, I combine my operational insight with academic and professional training expertise to support organisations, institutions, and individuals involved in complex and sensitive investigations. My goal is to improve the quality, fairness, and defensibility of investigative decision-making; whether you're conducting an inquiry, responding to one, or supporting others through the process.

šŸ‘‹ Hello!

I’m passionate about travel, always eager to explore new places and have been fortunate to visit some amazing places.

I’m currently pursuing an MSc in Forensic Psychological Studies, deepening my understanding of the psychological aspects behind investigative work.

I am an active member of the International Investigative Interviewing Research Group (iIIRG), where I sit on the Executive Committee.

Sport has always played a big role in my life, teaching me the importance of commitment, dedication, and teamwork. I played hockey at a high regional level, including winning the County Championship with Kent in 2019. Now, I am an avid golfer, enjoying the focus the game demands, whilst also the opportunities to be outdoors.
